I'm Derek, based in Troon, South Ayrshire. In seven years of shooting weddings professionally, I've built a body of work that has earned seven front covers of photography publications and international recognition — getting the shots that the couple want, but by staying true to what makes a great image: genuine emotion, beautiful light, and a moment that actually happened.
100% Scottish, I grew up with art and photography as my language — a way of seeing and connecting with the world around me. That creative instinct, combined with years of real experience across Scotland and the UK, is what I bring to every wedding I photograph.

My style blends natural documentary storytelling with fine art composition and classic portraiture, adapting to each couple and each venue rather than applying a formula. I've photographed weddings at Blairquhan Castle, Turnberry, Kelburn Castle, Pollock House, Enterkine House, Marine Troon, Piersland House, Lochside House Hotel, and many more — as well as elopements in Glencoe, city celebrations in Glasgow, and weddings across the wider UK.
