The wedding morning at Piersland House in Troon — Lauren in the makeup chair, the room busy around her, the day still ahead of everyone. Morning coverage sets the whole tone of a wedding gallery, and it's some of my favourite work.
My approach in the bridal suite is to stay quiet and let the morning unfold. Makeup, hair, the bridesmaids drifting in and out, the nerves and the laughter — I catch it all without directing any of it. The best getting-ready photographs come from a photographer who blends into the room. That said, I'll quietly move someone into better light when it helps them shine — documentary doesn't mean standing back and hoping.
