When the sky does something like this, I let it take the lead. A silhouette strips a photograph back to shapes — two people, close together, against the last of the light. It only works if your photographer knows how to expose for it on the spot, and that's where my years of technical training pay off. No fumbling with settings while the colour fades. West coast sunsets over the water are one of the great perks of marrying in Troon, and they change by the minute. I watch the sky all day so that when the moment comes, we're already standing in the right place.
