Everyone photographs the bride getting into her dress. Fewer photographers turn around to catch the faces watching her — and that's where half the emotion lives. Mums, sisters, best friends, all seeing her ready for the first time. I shoot both directions in that moment, because the reactions complete the story. It's a habit from documentary work: the event matters, but so does its audience. The bright suites at Marine Troon give me the room to do this without anyone shuffling out of the way.
