This is the Marine as I see it most days — big red sandstone against a proper west coast sky. The hotel has stood on the Troon seafront since 1894, right beside the Old Course at Royal Troon, with the sea just beyond. I live down the road, so I know how this building looks in every season and every kind of weather. That matters more than you'd think.
