A chocolate cake on log slices — a lovely change from the classic white tiers, and it photographed brilliantly. I always shoot the cake twice: once on its own before anyone touches it, so the baker's work is properly recorded, and once during the cutting, when the couple are giggling about who's actually holding the knife. Both pictures matter. One is for the detail, the other for the memory.
