The sun was going fast. Zaya stepped up onto the old stone steps, Ross came along the balustrade behind her, and for a moment it was just the three of us. No one calling out. No one asking for a pose. That bit of quiet is worth a lot.
Rowallan Castle sits in East Ayrshire, and it gives you this — weathered stone stacked right up the frame, so the couple sit small and calm against it.
This was pure golden hour. No off-camera flash, nothing added. Just the last of the July light and the right lens for it. I didn't set this one up. I saw it and stepped into it.
This was my first wedding at Rowallan Castle, and what a way to see it for the first time.
