This is the fine art side of my work. The dark interior of the house behind her, the warm glow of the lamp, the doorway framing her like a portrait in a gallery — none of that is luck. I trained in fashion and editorial photography before I ever shot a wedding, and portraits like this are where that background earns its keep: reading the light, choosing the frame, and directing Megan so gently that she simply looks like herself on her very best day.
The whole portrait took a couple of minutes, then Megan was back with her family — who'd flown in from America — and the celebrations rolled on. That's how bridal portraits should work: quick, calm and beautiful, never a production.
