Dress hitched up, having a laugh, wandering back towards the hotel — this is what couple portraits look like when nobody's performing. Troon is my home town, and there's something special about photographing couples on streets I walk every day. Locals smile and wave, cars give you a cheery toot, and the whole thing feels warm rather than staged. I keep sessions like this loose on purpose. We wander, we talk, I shoot. If a gust of wind grabs the veil or a dog walker wanders through, even better — those are usually the frames you'll love most.
